FireSmart is Canada's nationally recognized wildfire prevention program that focuses on creating safer properties through vegetation management and defensible space planning. By reducing flammable materials around your home, you significantly improve your property's resilience during wildfire events.

2026 FireSmart Rebate Program
Homeowners in eligible RDKB communities may qualify for financial assistance after completing a free FireSmart Home Assessment. The program may reimburse 50% of eligible mitigation costs, with rebates ranging from $500 to $5,000.
Eligible work must be recommended during the FireSmart assessment. Homeowners should keep receipts, document completed work, and follow the requirements provided by the RDKB FireSmart team.
Funding is limited and rebates are issued on a first-come, first-served basis while funding remains available.

Up to 50% of eligible FireSmart mitigation costs may be reimbursed.

Eligible homeowners may qualify for rebates within this range.
Assessment Required
A free FireSmart Home Assessment must be completed before eligible work begins.
Eligibility, rebate amounts, deadlines, and approved work are determined by the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary. North Fork Tree Service does not administer or guarantee rebates. Homeowners should confirm current program requirements with the RDKB before beginning work.
